Need suggestions/recommendations

DD is 5 mos old. She is a thumb sucker. When she is awake, she likes to hold onto the bib, burp cloth, or minnie mouse blankie while she sucks her thumb.
2 of the last 3 nights I put her in a sleep sack for bedtime. She woke up a few times at night crying b/c she was reaching down and grabbing the bottom part of sleep sack and trying to suck her thumb (w/ same hand she was holding sleep sack). She was getting mad b/c she couldn't do it.
Last night I put her in regular PJs and she woke up grabbing on her PJs by her belly, trying to do the same thing!

Is there a safe way to give her something to hold in the crib? I went in her room around 2:30am and gave her a crocheted Santa hat, I figured it was safe b/c it had holes. She couldn't really hold it though.

Oh, since 3 1/2mos old, she has been sleeping thru the night (7-8 hrs) and since ~4mos she has slept ~12hrs/night w/o waking.

How about a lovey. The little blanket with a doll at top. The doll at top is heavy enough to fall to the side and stuff. Dd has been sleeping with hers for a long time.

My dd had a small knit blankie that she does the exact same thing as your dd since about 6 months old. She cant sleep without it. Now at 2yrs old its an extension of her arm lol. The knit and crotchet blankies are fine to pit in the crib. Your dd sounds just like mine. Mine named her blankie baba when she was like a year old. Its actually really cute

My DD started sleeping with her "lovie" since she was a few months and it was for that reason she loved holding something while she slept. It is a small blanket( maybe 12 by12) with a bunny on top.
