Need suggestions: Baby gift
So I'm traveling to San Fran in two weeks. My oldest friend's wife is pregnant. around 14weeks. I'd like to get her something nice.
She's a minimalist and doesn't buy stuff for the sake of having it. But she's very girly girl with sparkles and pink that attract her. She's having a girl. I was thinking I'd just get her a gift card since it travels easier.
Is that lame?
Oh and I owe her. She lent me her husband for a few days when I needed a shoulder to cry on in NYC.

At that stage, I would most appreciate a gc for maternity clothes. Pea in the Pod or even just a store that carries maternity like ON, Gap, etc.

How about "Now & Later" as in a Gap Card and something else.
Her hubby (my buddy) is stupidly well off so money seems to be non-issue.

I loved it when i got GCs. I know people had great intentions with clothes etc but we all have very different tastes and didn't like things I got.

She knows at 14w that it is a girl for sure? I personally wouldn't buy something for the baby - it is too early IMO. If money is no issue for them, I wouldn't get a GC for maternity clothes - I would do a spa or mani/ped GC.

If she had CVS testing or the materniti21 test she would know the gender of the baby.
As a new mom I love getting gifts for my daughter.

Makes sense. I still personally think it is too early to buy something for the baby. JMO.

Re: Need suggestions: Baby gift
If money is not an object, a gc may not be the best fit. How about maybe a "starter" mom necklace or bracelet with a charm? Like with a.girl shape or baby carriage or something like that?
If you wanted a gift for the baby, something different is a really nice starter set of girls' classics books. We got those for dd when she was first born - secret garden, Anne of green gables, things like that in nice hardcover. And thn on special occasions you can send another book so she eventually has a whole collection.
