Need some quick opinions.... wedding/sick related

OK, I need some fast opinions because this pertains to tonight.

We are going to DH cousin is getting married on Sunday. DS is going to be the ring bearer. Tonight is the rehersal and rehersal dinner.

Last Sunday I noticed that my DD felt a little warm. I wasn't home so I never took her temperature because she didn't feel overly warm.

She was fine the next day.

Tuesday I started getting very achy. Then I have been having chills and a low grade fever on and off since then. Had chills this morning, took Tylenol and my fever broke and have been feeling pretty good all day. But now my throat is sore and I think my temp is back up to 99.5.

Yesterday DS daycare called to say he had a temp of 100.7 and had the chills. We picked him up, gave him some Tylenol and he woke up this morning fever free.

DH is so far unaffected. I let the bride know that my DS and I will not be going to the rehersal tonight because I DO NOT want to be responsible for getting anyone sick.

Here's the dilemma. Should DH go? Do you think he would be a risk at all since he has been living in a house where 3 of us seem to have some sort of virus? I am just really afraid of him getting someone sick, even if he doesn't feel sick himself, just because he has been around us.

WWYD? Would you send your DH? Would you tell him to not risk it?

DH wants to go because he wants to see what DS is going to have to do and show his support. I told him he should be first thinking of the bride and groom and possible risk of infection.

IDK, looking for some thoughts here.

First of all I think it's so considerate of you to even think about your DH infecting anyone else. I do think he could be a "carrier" but unless he's really getting that close to anyone, sharing drinks or kissing someone, he should probably be okay. How is he feeling today? If he's feeling a little off I would skip it, but if not I would tell him to go. Hope you guys feel better!!!!

I'm not a doctor or anything, and I may very well be wrong, but I think it takes a long time to get sick from someone, perhaps 11 days or so.. I'm not sure where I remember that, but I heard it's not like you just run into someone one day and get sick the next. It takes time, I believe.

Thanks! DH has been feeling fine. DS and DD seem to have bounced back within 24 hours.

Me on the other hand, have been feeling crappy on and off since Tuesday morning. Apparently kids seem to bounce back much quicker than adults do!

I think it's nice of you to consider it. I would probably send DH & DS (as long as DS was still feeling fine). I'd tell him not to kiss anyone hello, shake hands & just explain there is a virus going around his house...

I think its so nice that you are being so considerate. I wouldn't risk it- I know someone mentioned it taking like a week to get sick- but what if they catch it and get sick on their honeymoon

I wouldn't go and I think its nice of you NOT to go.

I'd send DH tho...and make sure he doesn't hug or kiss everyone...just in case.

Oh, it's a given that I'm not going. I still have a slight fever as I sit here. And DS won't go because he had the fever yesterday.

But I think that I'm now leaning towards DH going.... he really wants to go! Thanks! Chat Icon
