Need some cheering up
Im having a rough week. Does anyone ever fell that their DH's are not as involved as they are with the baby?
I know DH has to work but sometimes he just seems too busy for DS. Sometimes i pictured family life to be different.

At first, YES, I felt like this all the time! But as DS got a little older and is now able to interact it has gotten much better.
I think men just don't "get it" at first.

Hm I know DH loves DD very much -- but yes, sometimes I think he doesn't get it. He just doesnt seem as head over heels as I am.
But I do think that as they get older, the dads can relate more, KWIM?

I felt like that in the beginning with Juliette but as she grew older, it got easier for him. Once he realized that she did like him and she was less attached to me, he became more involved.

It gets SOOO much better when they get older. When I was breastfeeding, I felt I had total responibility of the baby 24/7. DH was a little lost in how to help.
Now that she is 9 months he is wonderful. When he is in town though

I feel the same way sometimes. I think it is hard for them too though, to just come in a few hours a day and try to be super-dad..... I wish we could both be home

I actually needed to address this issue with DH last week. So far he's been much better and a bigger help. I suggest sharing your feelings with your DH,maybe he doesnt realize what's going on.

I felt that way too with DD and now I do with DS....
BUT to cheer you up...just wait till your DH gets a smile or a kiss and the baby can actually interact. Once DD started laughing and crawling and playing....DH was in all his glory. He tells me all the time that he can't wait for DS to get to the 18 month age so that he can run around the house screaming with BOTH kids while I stand there shaking my head!!!

For me, it definitely gets easier as DC get older. Now that DS is 4, we play all the time, we go to karate together, we wrestle, we read books together (he'll read some, then tell me what parts I have to read...  ). It's much easier to relate to him now. I'm also getting better with DD. She is walking around, and trying to talk, so I can interact better. Once she starts talking, it will be easier still.
