Need Some Advice re: Oil Companies
I have spent the morning calling Oil companies to get current pricing on oil contracts and service contracts. We have an old boiler system, so we need a service contract.
Here is what I got. I'm stuck between Slomin's, General and Swezey. Does anyone have any feedback on them?
Petro Service Contract: $183.41 Oil Delivery: $3.949 (Ceiling), $3.499 (Variable), $3.859 (Fixed)
Slomins Service Contract: $118.40 w/tax Oil Delivery: $3.099 (Fixed)
General Service Contract: $135 plus tax Oil Delivery: $3.299 (Ceiling), $3.249 (Fixed) - current delivery price today until ceiling is $3.039 If we sign with them, they will give us a $100 credit at signing
Swezey Service Contract: $FREE$, they have 24/7 service, will cover parts & labor, cleaning and annual tuning (they stated it's the same coverage as Petro) Oil Delivery: $3.39 (Fixed) that is guaranteed until 6/1 then they allow their customers to lock in on a new rate as oil prices go down slightly in the summer, but we are not obligated to stay with them after 6/1.
Marran Service Contract: $184.31 plus tax for cast iron boilers and $214 plus tax for steel boilers Oil Delivery: $3.299 (Fixed), $3.499 (Ceiling) They have a 2-year program that on the 3rd year, they will do a 2-hour service cleaning of your boiler in which (they claim) they will take apart the entire boiler and clean it, check the schimney, complete an inspection, etc and they do this on top of the annual tuning.
I called Perillo, but the sales agent wasn't available. I will update if I get to talk with him.

Re: Need Some Advice re: Oil Companies
we went w slomins bc they were much lower than Petro. we also have an old boiler. 2.899 per gallon including the service contract. contract inc water heater. one morning (b4 we even moved it) it was leaking into the basement . we called them at 9 am they showed at 4 PM bc they say it wasn't an emergency. I think water in my basement is. anyway they fixed a valve which of course was not covered so we had to pay 162.00 in total
Slomins service apparently BITES. I think next year we will pay more for Petro and go with them. I hate to pay extra, but since the oil burner is old , we need someone reliable.

Re: Need Some Advice re: Oil Companies
We have used Marran for many years and have been happy. I don't pay an extra service fee and they do a yearly cleaning.

Thats strange because with Slomins they changed a few valves for me for free. But I also had their upgraded "boiler insurance" contract that essentially covers everything related to the hot water system.

yes we were told the hot water system would be covered. and when the dude came he told my DH that particular valve was not covered . Bunch of shady characters, I hate having oil I want gas, but there are no lines here

Re: Need Some Advice re: Oil Companies
We had Slomins when we first bought the house. We weren't happy with their customer service when the first year was up. So we switched to Swezey! They are great! Price is good. Free contract! They come right away! They do a cleaning once a year for us and have fixed a few things because we also have an old boiler. I highly recommend them.
