need some advice from the vets.
I've got my appt. with Dr. B on Tuesday and after 3 failed IVFs (first one was a crap shoot, this is his last shot to actually do something other than tell me to lose weight. I have 2 totsicles and aren't sure of my options. I am definitely headed to Cornell this spring for a summer ivf if Liivf falls flat again.
My fsh is fine, fert rate is good, ovaries responded decently this last time, but they couldn't get all the eggs out (they claim).
What testing should I insist on? I asked him about more blood tests for clotting issues, genetic stuff, etc. after my 2nd failed cycle and he simply said, he is convinced it's strictly an ovulatory problem. I don't care. I want more tests. blood work is ridiculously easy, so just do it already!
For the record, I was pregnant 5 years ago and lost the baby at 5 months, but it wasn't due to anything genetic.

Ok, am I a vet? I think so... right? I'm not sure- lol. Michelle, did you ever ask him if you could meet with BOTH him and Dr. K or set up an appt w/ Dr. K separately? I'd be curious to see if he has a diff. protocol for you, though probably not b/c they tend to discuss their patients cases w/ one another anyway (for me anyway). I would ask to have the Tennessee Bloods drawn. I asked Dr. K about a frequent miscarriage panel after my first IVF cycle and all that came with it- and he told me rather than the regular fmp that he preferred to do the TN Bloods- which I had to pay out of pocket for (and the results took a month to get back).

Honestly, I wouldn't go to Cornell I'd go to Dr. Braverman or SIRM in NYC. If you have immune issues, they will be the best place to get treated for them, for sure. They run a GAMMET of tests and I had been going to LI IVF for YEARS and they just don't believe in the immune stuff.

That's the other thing, I would need someone on LI or with a satellite office here at least. I have early hours at work and can't get into the city for monitoring.

Braverman is in Woodbury. Cornell is in Garden City.

Re: need some advice from the vets.
The fact that you had a m/c at 5 mos (i am so sorry) leads me to believe there has to be something going on.. Especially if it was not a genetic disorder.. I had 2 failed ivf's and 11 iui's 2 of which were m/c.. My last IVF worked because I am being treated for both blood clotting and n/k cells (immune) I use Braverman.. He has 3 offices .. Westchester, LI, NYC.. He will run every test you can imagine.. He is excellent.. My perinatologist considers him top in the field.. Most of his patients are results of his work.. And I am over weight as well and he has never used that as an excuse.. G/L with this last cycle.. I hope this is it for you and you can end it here.. And if you do get preggo I recommend Perinatologist Dr Kofinas he will keep you pregnant!!

Re: need some advice from the vets.
Thanks for the information so far ladies! I think I'll schedule a consult with Dr. Braverman just to get that 2nd opinion. I did email them this afternoon and they take my insurance. The woodbury location is really ideal, b/c it's right on the way to work for me. I asked them about monitoring hours and they said they weren't strict about that. What does that mean? If I'm doing an IVF cycle, how can I go in the afternoon for monitoring if they need to adjust meds and get bloodwork done? I have to be at work by 8, the latest. I know these logistics can be worked out, but they are a factor and I have to be realistic.

Where do you live/work? NSUH has monitoring in both the Manhasset and Huntington locations. I've only been there a few months but am pleased with the doctors, so far. And I'm overweight as well. My main RE said maybe it's a factor, maybe it's not...let's move on!!

Re: need some advice from the vets.
I live in East Northport and work in Levittown. Huntington would work. I just hate that Dr. B isn't what I thought he was. Isn't it in their best interest to figure out why they can't get me pregnant? Why is he so whatevery about it? I love everything else about LIIVF. They feel like family to me. I'll see what he says on Tuesday and then have consults elsewhere. What happens to my frozen embies, then?

I would think you could have the embies transferred to a new clinic...I mean they are yours after all, not LIIVF's!!
I had a similar experience with my first RE, started out all gung-ho and then when I wasn't getting pg and not ready to move to IVF he totally changed his tune. Sad to think, but I firmly believe that a lot of it has to do with stats and success stories (I know I will get slammed for saying it) and my personal experience at a LIIVF consult was exactly that...all about whether or not I was a good fit for them, not if they could/would meet my needs. I hope that you either get the answers you deserve Tuesday or can find a practice that help you achieve your dream!!
