Need resturant help with a toddler in NYC

LIF, please don't move to food & dining as its more parenting related. Thanks!!

So, Thursday my mom & sister will be bringing my DS in to NYC to come to my office (around 3-4PMish) then we'll go into Times Square (bring him to Toysrus and such). We're gonna grab dinner.

In midtown, which places would you recommend for an very active & babbling 14.5 mos year old?

I was thinking of Bubba Gump Shrimp or a place like that with things for him to look at. Not sure though.

Also, do these places take reservations? I'm worried they'll be mobbed since the kids are off.

I work in NYC and know tons of resturants, but most aren't kid friendly. Put it this way, if we were on LI we'd go to Applebees or Friendlys.

Also, I'm not going to Applebees in NYC.

Thanks!!

Bubba Gump is fine.

We went to Virgil's BBQ with DS and my friend and her two kids who are 4 and 5 and that was awesome (good food and kid friendly) and I think they are just past TRU...

Most things around there are kid friendlyChat Icon

I would second Virgils only b/c there is no reason to pay the extreme mark up at a chain just b/c it's in Times Square.

also, Virgil's is yummy! Chat Icon

we went to ESPN zone and DS loved all the tv's around. Needless to say he went nuts with the arcade upstairs eventhough i hardly put any money in the machines.

OOH, I forgot they had an arcade there. Was it mobbed though? I'd let DS run around only if it wasn't mobbed. I'd love him to burn off some energy BEFORE our car ride home.

Thanks!

Stardust diner - the staff is singing all the time - it is a great experience and there is a train that runs along the ceiling. My niece and nephew loved the place

I think most of the Times Square restaurants are fine for kids, esp if it's early. But ESPN Zone is a good one and Ellen's Stardust Diner is good - and diner food is easy for kids. Worse comes to worse, there is always a Cosi for a quick meal.
