Need quick help re: unemployment claims please

My mom works for a doctor who sold his practice to Winthrop. He called her last night and told her she has the option of going down to 3 days/week in order to keep her job. She has been there working 9 out of 10 days for every 2 weeks for 16 years. If she decides she does not want to work part time, is she eligible to collect unemployment? I am thinking she is since he job changed but not sure. She has to let the doctor know tomorrow what she wants to do.

On another note, if her co-worker decided not to take the other 2 days/week, my mom get the job full time. She really does not want this job anymore. Would she still be eligible for unemployment if they end up offering her the full time hours?

I am so out of the loop on NY unemployment and I can't find any info on this on their website. Thanks.

She would have to get fired or layed off. So it depends on the employer. She can tell him I want to work full tim eonly I cant do three days, in which her employer will fire her and she could collect unemployment benefits.

She absolutely positively is eligible for unemployment. This happened to me. I was working 5 days for 6 hours per day. All of a sudden without any warning, the company just told me dont come in tomorrow, or we only need you three days this week. OR, i would come in and after an hour they would send me home. So, my dad who was a VP of operations on Wall St. told me to go to unemployment because i was working a certain amount of hours and then they just changed it. The unemployment is for whatever the difference is between what you were working and what you are working.Tell her to go down and get what she is entitled to. My comapny was so PO'd at me when i did that that they let me go and i got full unemployment Chat Icon
If they offer her the usual hours she has to take it, but if they cut her usual hours down to 3 days she will get unemployment for those 2 days she is no longer working.
