Need new pots and pans

I've had the Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick for seven years and the bigger frying pan was tossed a year ago because the finish was flaking off. The remaining pans are now doing the same. (We hand washed every single time after the pans cooled and only used nylon utensils.) is it typical to replace pans after just 7 years?

Also, can you recommend your long-lasting pots and pans? I'm willing to spend more upfront to not have to replace in a few years!

We love our All-Clad but they are $$$. Sometimes you can find them at Home Goods or TJ Maxx. They also have great deals on them at the William Sonoma Outlet.

I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE my farberware stainless. They're 12 years old and still look brand new. My mom still uses hers from HER shower - 47 years ago!

Need new pots and pans

I have 2 sets of pots that are 10 years old - Farberware and Macy's brand Tools of the Trade. Both are still in great shape and nowhere near ready to be replaced.

I handwash my pots. I feel like when you put them in the dishwasher, they look a little dull. It's not so bad to handwash them - and since they're stainless, I use brillo if I need to.

I love my calphalon tri-ply stainless set. I do hand wash them but they're easy to get clean. I also have a large all clad saute pan that I love.

Need new pots and pans

I have calphalon tri-ply stainless plus two large calphalon non-stick frying pan. I also have an all clad dutch oven. They are all really great. The calphalon pots and pans are a little bit lighter than the all-clad making them easier to lift.

I have the Calphalon Contemporary stainless steel and I love them. I've had them for 4 years and there is hardly any burn marks.

Re: Need new pots and pans

I agree with stainless steel. Any decent brand should last you a lifetime! Just be aware...Farberware has a few different grades of their pots, so don't cheap out if you want quality. Hold them, and feel the weight. If they seem sturdy, they will last.

I have these and hate them. I hate that the lid handles get so hot I can't even lift them without a potholder. I find the insides of the pots get very dull/water stained after only a year of (very light!) use and hand washing.

Thanks for all the responses!

We bought our first pieces of All-Clad d5 today. Unfortunately, dinner tonight doesn't require using them, but my hubby is looking forward to frying eggs and bacon tomorrow morning!

Same here. Too many studies on the carcinogens from non-stick.

Threw out all of my non-stick and treated myself to an All-Clad set last Christmas... I cook a lot.

Which Farberware sets do you mean? I just looked at their website and there are so many different ones. Thanks.
