Need MAC and Photoshop help

So I duplicated one of my pictures in iPhoto to play around with the color. I worked on the duplicated copy on Photoshop and saved it. Now when I go to iPhoto the photo that I played around with is still in color. When I go into Photoshop and bring the picture up, it comes up as the one I converted.

what if you rename it in photoshop then import it into iphoto. the files can't be the same extension. sounds like it is getting confused with the naming and the file extensions.
