Need IVF clarification

When I took the orientation class last month, they mentioned that at some point (which I thought started the day of the water sonogram, but I called the nurse and she said no restrictions as of now)... I wouldn't be allowed in any tubs/swimming pools, etc... no being in water from the waist down. When does this start? And when does the restriction end? Has anyone else heard of this? TIA! Chat Icon

Re: Need IVF clarification

I've never heard of this, but I'm finding RE's are all very different.

I would think however it would be more important after you have your transfer.

Most restrictions will usually stay in effect until your pregnancy test. But again, I would assume that's up to what your doctor thinks is best for you.

Re: Need IVF clarification

It's from the time of the retrieval up until your beta.

My first RE also advised that, after my BFP, I didn't jump into any pools or do anything that might cause a rush of water. He said I could go swimming though.

After my beta, I was told I could swim. LIIVF tells you no hot tubs, or submersion from transfer to beta.

Thanks. I spoke w/ my nurse earlier today and she said that we don't have to worry about not being allowed to swim up until my retrieval. So I still have about a month to go swimming Chat Icon Chat Icon Yeah for summer!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
