Need help with sleep sacks

Hi, I'm due in a few weeks and starting to wash all the clothing. I have some halo sleepsacks but not sure if I need them all. I have ones with sleeves, some without sleeves and some with the swaddle attached. And the miracle blanket. Will I use all of these? Which one is the best?TIA

It really depends on the baby. DD1 used the swaddled version but my DD2 hates them.
I never used long sleeve versions, but plain sleeveless ones you'll likely definitely use. Those are most common.

Definitely depends on your baby. DS absolutely hates having his arms tucked into anything, so any of the ones that wrapped his arms up were a bust. We used the long sleeved ones for the first week or so (he was born 1/9), but he quickly got very hot. The only sleep sack we use now is the sleeveless one.

I love the halo ones. My first wore them until at 2. My 2month old sleeps in the swaddle versions and does 8 hour stretches so I dread her growing out of them!

Depends on your baby. DS uses the sleep sacks at daycare - the swaddle versions, I leave 2 there. At home, he uses nothing during naps, and at night I usually swaddle him with blankets - though on super restless nights (and I can usually tell when those will be) I put him in the long sleeve, fleece sleep sack, this way he has room to toss and turn as much as he wants.

It really does depend on the baby. I had all of those types that you mentioned and my dd used to put up such a fight when we'd try to get her into the Velcro swaddles and the miracle blanket that we ended up not using them.

Re: Need help with sleep sacks

Yeah depends on the baby...

DS loved the Halo Sleep Sacks that were sleeveless. He HATED the one with the swaddle attached. I ended up cutting that part off with a scissor and just using it as sleeveless since it was already used by the time I realized DS hated the swaddle part.

Yet, oddly enough he loved being swaddled -- but wanted an old school swaddle blanket, all swaddled up, and then wanted the Sleep Sack over that. Until he outgrew the swaddle.

Then, it was the Sleep Sack with arms through the holes.

He would still be in one of those but he is SO TALL that he is longer than even the longest one! He outgrew the 24 month one around eight months old. Chat Icon

Here he is -- like four months or so and he is swaddled in a swaddle blanket underneath the Halo. Loved it! I ended up buying more of the Sleep Sacks until he got too tall for them.

Need help with sleep sacks

DS sleeps in a long sleeved fleece sleep sack. We keep our house cool at night so I feel like he needs a "blanket".

Re: Need help with sleep sacks

I had one fleece one & one cotton one, both sleeveless (both XL size) & DS used them from about 5/6 months-10/11 months old so he'd be warm. Once he was able to stand up in his crib & move around more I stopped using it.

Yay glad you are almost there!

DS does best in the HALO sleepsacks with the swaddle attached. He has 2 of them and sleeps in them at night. I have the HALO sleepsacks without the swaddle that he wears during the day but he sleeps better at night swaddled. These are so helpful when he is crying in the middle of the night because the last thing I want to do is really swaddle him with a regular swaddle blanket. He fights me with those and then tries to break out.

I would say wash one of each of the smaller sizes and see what your LO does best with.

That was his little pad from his bassinet!

That was from his first night in his big boy crib!!!

That was the first night he wasn't next to me in his bassinet as I slept in my bed! So, I took the insert from the bassinet out because I figured it would be a smoother "transition" and he'd smell the bassinet on the pad and feel the same way he felt in it.

Then, I was scared he'd roll over or onto his side - he really couldn't do so in the bassinet because it was smaller and had sides. So, I put a towel next to him rolled up Chat Icon I was like OMG he's going to roll and hit his face on the crib slats!!! I was so worried but it worked out fine. He transitioned totally fine and after a day or two I removed the pad.

Wow - feels like forever ago and yesterday at the same time!

I love the halo sleep sacks. We started from day one with them, and she's almost 2 1/2 and still in them! My dh calls it her magic cape! Lol bc as soon as it goes on she knows it's bedtime and calms down. She started in the ones with the swaddle wings, and I just didn't swaddle Her arms. She's now into the ones with feet holes.

I didn't like any of the other kinds because they just seemed too small or didn't work right etc. the halos were the best for us!

Re: Need help with sleep sacks

The first few weeks, he did not like to be swaddled, so we used the sleeveless ones. Then around 9-10 weeks, he was okay with swaddling so we used the one w/ the attached swaddled from Halo and he slept in that until I think almost 4 months, I forget exactly. Since then, I bought one of these now w/ the winter that he sleeps in his crib with. I absolutely love it. I don't need to over dress him in any way and he's so comfortable in it:
