Need help with skin care!

I'm 38 and it's finally time I do something more for my skin on my face than cleanser (I use cetaphil) and daily moisturizer (also usually cetaphil or cerave). Its just looking a little lackluster and the bags under my eyes are getting pretty bad. I have uber sensitive skin. No wrinkles yet, I am just losing that healthy young glow...

What kind of product should I look for? an exfoliating cleanser? Or some sort of nutrient-rich serum? Any thoughts / suggestsions for products you use? Tia!

Need help with skin care!

I have tons of skin issues and I feel like I can use a million and one products or nothing and it doesn't make a difference. The only thing that makes a difference is my diet. If I'm eating good then my skin is healthy.

This sounds funny, but 2--3 times a week, I'll take cetaphil cleanser and baking soda and mix them together and gently scrub on my dry face. Then I rinse. I feel like it helps.

Good point, I'm home this summer and my eating routine is not as great as when I'm at work.

I love baking soda to exfoliate. Just mix a little with water to create a paste. Make sure to drink a lot of water

Be careful with the baking soda. It can be too harsh for some people.

I was feeling the same way & started using products with light-reflecting things in them. Also, sheer or very light highlighter & bronzer adds a nice glow.

I got a few compliments when I started using this set: Olay Regenerist Trio

I don't have any products to suggest but I agree with pp, be careful with baking soda if you have sensitive skin.

Philosophy

I use their basic face wash, renewed hope in a jar day and night cream and recently purchased an exfoliating mask and the oxygen peel duo

It hydrates my skin without making it greasy (the cream with spf is greasy so I don't use that one)

Love all of their products

Go to Sephora or Ulta and ask them. Get samples and try it it out. I think I may have the entire line Chat Icon lol

I am a fan of Tatcha - they are a pricey line but worth getting samples at Sephora and trying it out. I also really like hydrating face masks - you can get those on Amazon.

I totally agree that diet is a huge factor in skin health. I recently finished Whole30 and my skin (not just face) is totally glowing, imperfections lessened, & super soft.

Need help with skin care!

I recently turned 40 and my skin was just as you described, dull, bags under my eyes, just very 'aged' looking all of the sudden.
I went to my dermatologist and got a prescription for Retinol. She also prescribed a sulfur wash and clindamycin topical lotion. I have been using tazarac gel every other week as well, it helps with the size of my pores and makes them not noticeable. I also use a BHA toner in the morning before moisturizer.

When you start your skin will look rough for about 2 months before you see a difference.

My skin looks great! People keep asking me what make up I am using because it looks so glowy. No make up change, just the above.

I would do some research on what are effective ingredients. the Paula's Choice website has a lot o f info.

you might need a chemical exfoliator, like a BHA or AHA product.

Re: Need help with skin care!

I also saw this on Dr Oz and did some research on it - it seems to have some ingrediants that might actually help long term.
I figure an ounce of preventinon right?
I might try it.
I had gotten a sample once from somewhere- don't remember where but I found it in my drawer. It felt good going on- can't speak to long term effectiveness from just a sample but from what I have read it seems to have gotten some rave reviews and press...
