Need help with shoe storage

Our shoes are always just thrown in an overflowing bin in the bottom of the coat closet. It's a mess and takes forever to find the shoes we're looking for!

What is your storage system?

Also, what do you store the opposite season shoes that won't be worn for 6 months?

I like the individual clear bins from the container store but they're like $10 per bin and we have A LOT of shoes

TIA!

You can fit booties in them- I do. (in the second one I posted that hangs on the closet's rod. The pockets are much roomier in that one)

For boots, I have a closet system in our spare bedroom. So it takes up one wall of a spare bedroom sort of like a walk in closet. that closet system has shelves in the middle and I put boots in there

Re: Need help with shoe storage

I have 4 of these in my walk in closet (bedroom) and DH has 2 for his shoes in the guest bedroom. They are great because they dont take up wall space:

Home Depot or Lowes.
I believe it was a Closet Maid. You can buy the parts you need to customize it for your needs and space
DH installed it himself

Re: Need help with shoe storage

I keep my shoes in their shoe boxes, and have them stacked inside my closet. I also have one of those rod hanging thingies to keep my birkenstocks / flip flops / sandals in.

DH has a shoe stand in his closet, and also keeps some of his shoes in their boxes in the closet.
His sneakers are on the floor by his dresser - hate that, but whatever, he's the one who vacuums.

Winter boots are on the floor in our utility closet.
