Need gift suggestions/opinions.... (friend, DS, mom)
Need some gift-giving help.
Friend: I'm at a loss as to what to give a friend. It's a newish friend of about a year but since we're both new to the area with no family around, our families have gotten close. Anyway, she's working on writing a book and she just finished her 1st draft. It's her 1st book ever. I'd like to give her something that in some way relates to her writing but have no idea what. Something that says "author" or something, i have no idea. Help.
DS (age 6): Has written to Santa that he wants art supplies. What does that even mean?? We already have crayons, markers, an easel, etc. I just bought him a box of 152 crayons. I'm thinking new paint and some brushes. What else though? Most art kits are geared towards girls.
Mom: My mom is hard to shop for. She's been under a lot of stress this past year as she's been caring for my dad as he battles cancer. It's been over a year already and the fight continues. I moved OOS days after the diagnosis so it's really been her on her own caring for my dad. Thinking of her stress I thought I'd get her an adult coloring book and some colored pencils/pens as part of her gift. All the articles say it can really help. My DH thinks it's a dumb idea. Is it?
TIA!

Hmmm... does your friend write or does she work on a computer? If she physically writes, I'd say check out Modcloth. Everything is 25% off with code "funday" and they had some cute stationery and stuff for the desk.

They had some cute notebooks, too. Good for jotting down ideas on the go.
I'm not sure about art supplies for your DS, but I do like the idea of the adult coloring book for your mother!
I find it very relaxing and it's probably not something she'd buy herself- especially since a good set of colored pencils are surprisingly expensive!
ETA: So sorry about your father.

Friend- nice journal and pen?
Son- make your own craft center? Maybe a set of plastic drawers filled with paintnd brushes, sketch bad, stickers, etc. I have seen kits like decorate a soccer ball....that Maybe fun, decorate a car, etc.
Mom- I love the coloring book idea. Maybe stress relief stuff from Bath and Body works as well.

For your son: qixels. My 5 year old wants them. I'm getting my mom an adult coloring book and I got her a set of 100 gel pens from Costco.
