need advice about Ds and speech development

DS is 15.5 months. he has no words, other that "this". he actually says that all day. He babbles, but no words, not even mama/dada. He understan15 ds what you tell him though, and responds to commands. he does point.
I spoke ot ped at 15 mo well, he said they like to see a couple of words by nwo, but he is not worried. that being said, he told me ot call EI at 18 months, but not before, he was fairly certain ds would be denied before then, since he has receptive language.
anyhow, i am just worried about his speech. i

Chat Icon at 2, mine had 7 words and did not quailfy at first for speech since he tested really high elsewhere.

I fought for it and got 30 mins a week.

The kid talks to me all day long.
Other times super quiet.
Just a guy of little words unless he really has something to say.

15 mos is so early to be worrying.
At 2, see where he is atChat Icon

My DS was the same at 15 months, he said, "I got" & that was it. He's 17.5 months now & says, peez (please), hello, mama, dada, I got, this and no.

I'd give it time; you'd be surprised at how fast they come around. Chat Icon

I have "this" guy too! He must say it 100 times a day! He does say dada too, but than that nothing. He's 15 months and understands everything also. I'm a special education teacher for EI and I'm not concerned yet. He babbles and communicates with some signs and lots of gestures. I think having the word "this" is enough to meet his needs. He uses it to let me know what he wants and point something out to me, so he's not really motived to use other words right now.
