need advice
I don't know what to think. I just had my 4th iui. For the past 3 cycles I was on clomid and the 2 cycles before this one I had gotten a trigger shot and done 2 iui's back to back. this cycle however the dr. let me surge on my own. I went in wednesday morning and sono showed two good follies. later on after blood results, which showed an lh surge, they told me to come in the next day for the iui. when i went in i had indeed ovulated. Now I am a little annoyed. why wouldn't they trigger ovulation? Isn't it better to receive an iui before ovulation. when i went in and the nurse saw that i had ovulated she said that that was great the egg would be waiting for the sperm. I know I am freaking out, but I just don't want to go through this whole process and have it messed up. any advice????

Re: need advice
It doesn't matter that much, it takes a day or so for the egg to travel down the fallopian tubes - so there is time for the sperm to get there and fertilize.
I don't really think they did anything wrong. Most RE's, even if they trigger ovulation, will wait 24-36 hours to do the IUI, this way the sperm are fresh.

thank you. I needed to hear that. I tend to freak out right after and have a million thoughts running through my head.

Re: need advice
I did a natural cycle for my first IUI and surged on my own. I went in for the IUI and had released the eggs overnight in the early morning (from what we could tell). With my triggered IUIs I had back to back. You never know...it could work! It doesn't sound out of the ordinary to me. The sperm have a chance to get to the egg which has a viable lifespan after it is released.

Re: need advice
I had back to back IUIs that resulted in a pregnancy. After the first one, the sono showed that I hadnot ovulated and the next day after the second one, it showed I had. You still dont know where that egg may be after that second IUI. The sample may meet it at just the right time!

Re: need advice
With my last IUI on clomid (when I got pg) I received a trigger shot and still did not ovulate for another 3 days. DH's largest sperm count was the day after I ovulated
