Need advice - what to say to friend/coworker

My co-worker, whom Im closest with at work, just dragged me outside crying to tell me she had a miscarriage. I was like a bumbling idiot, and just said Im sorry, like a million times.

I knew yesterday that she might be miscarrying, after a week of ups and downs with her OB. She might have been pregnant, might not have been at all, may have been PG and then miscarried. She was a nervous wreck yesterday but her Dr confimed the MC today.

What should I say or do? Ive never been in this position.

I know from on here to NOT say things like, well everything happens for a reason, at least you know you can get pregnant. But all I had was "Im sorry".

Shes back in her cube and I can hear her sniffling. I have convinced her to take the rest of the day off after lunch.

What can I do for her?

I've never been in her shoes... but I think there is nothing wrong with going to her and asking if she wants to talk, or just giving her a hug. I wouldn't know what to say either Chat Icon

Having gone through more than I care to recount, just tell her you are there for her if she needs to talk and leave it at that.Chat Icon

Ditto. Just her knowing you're there for her, will mean alot to her.
