Need a repairman

Anyone have a repairman that doesn't charge a fee just for coming to the house? Need someone to look at our dryer. We're in southeast Nassau.

I think any repairman will charge a minimal service fee for a house call. It costs them in time, fuel and you're using their expertise to diagnose the problem. They will gain if you hire them to fix it but if it's a costly fix you'll just decide to replace it and they gain nothing if they did that for free.

Thanks. I'm aware of this. Guess I should have said I am looking more for a private person who works side jobs or a handyman who we can use going forward for times like these. I know there are people out there who do things like this, I just don't know anyone!

Agreed. I also think you are better off going with someone licensed, insured who knows what they are doing vs. some Joe Schmoe off the street because you are looking to save a buck.

I've had issues with both my washer as well as my dryer in the past. Once I used Sears and I want to say the whole job plus fee to look at it was around $100. When my dryer was having issues, I used a private guy whose business is to fix appliances and it was slightly more.

This was after Sears gave me the runaround and didn't keep their appointments.
