Nearly Fainted

I was in NY and Co today waiting on line. All of a sudden, my stomach felt weird, like I was going to throw up. Then I started feeling dizzy. I went off line to lean on something, and then it felt like something was covering up my ears (I couldnt hear anything) and everything went black. My friend came running over and sat me on the floor. After a few minutes, I felt a little better. Shaky, but better. I never passed out thank god. But I had her ask at the desk if I could use their bathroom--because I felt sick, and they said no. She told them that I was pregnant, and that I almost passed out, and they saw me on the floor, but they still said no. I was sooo angryChat Icon

Re: Nearly Fainted

How are you feeling now?

This exact thing happened to my twice early on in my pregnancy. I attributed it to low blood-sugar. You might have been doing a lot of exercise by walking and not realized how famished you were. Keep a granola or candy bar in your pocketbook at all times.

That is appaling that the store would not help you - and it's a women's store. Shame on them!!

I think you should contact the headquarters at NY & Co and let them know that they wouldn't help you....

Re: Nearly Fainted

That's a good idea. I really should contact them. I shop there and give that store so much money----I think I am going to look into it right now!

I agree....that's appalling and dispicable behavior. Honestly, one day I was in the Hicksville store and had a huge pile of clothes to try on. I walked tot he dressing room, waited, NO ONE CAME NEAR ME even though about 5 women working there saw me and continued to gossip. So, since there was an OPEN door [i was trying to be polite and let them "allow" me in a room], I took it. Suddenly this wench took notice and started screaming at me. I walked out and shouted to her: this must be why I never really shop in your store. I never looked back...I was ticked. But what they did with you was awful. I almost wish you had vomited...all over the winter line.Chat Icon

Re: Nearly Fainted

What store?

I am truely sorry that this happened and this will be brought up to store management & customer Service.

At this time of year with all the new hires sometimes the policy gets in the way of compassion.

Regardless, the least they should have done is gotten a chair or something.

To think, NY&Co has started selling via the web but some dingbat newbie ( at least I hope it was a newbie) doesn't realize when someone has a problem.

Forum Mail me for followup

Re: Nearly Fainted

I am feeling better. But now a little nervous to go shopping by myself. I know that sounds crazy, but it really threw me off yesterday. Plus, ever year my mom and I go out shopping the Friday after Thanksgiving, but she said that maybe I shouldnt go this year because it will be so crazy.

Thanks for asking!

Re: Nearly Fainted

The same thing happened to me and it was low blood sugar too! It's been happening more lately. Have a snack in hand just in case.

Re: Nearly Fainted

I'm so sorry that happened to you. Some people are unbelievable! I agree that you should file a complaint. I'm glad you are feeling okay now. In addition to the low blood sugar, it could be dehydration. I have fainted in the past from dehydration (pre-pregnancy) and feel faint now if I do not drink lots of water. Make sure you always carry a small bottled water with you just in case.
