Nassau Basement
Hi, I live in the town of North Hempstead in Mineola. I was wondering if anyone knows the rules about adding a bathroom and a small kitchen in the basement.
Our bsmt is already finished and we are taxed at a higher level as a result. Do you know if adding a bath & kitchen would increase taxes additionally?
We have no intention of renting the bsmt. Just would like to cook downstairs primarily and keep the upstairs clean.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Nassau Basement
In most township, adding an additional full kitchen is not allowed. Def no stove. You might be able to do a kitchenette with a small stove top (2 burners) and a small fridge. Mostly because they think you will have an illegal apartment.
