Naps

DS (3 months) used to be easy to put down for a nap. He'd nurse and then I'd put him down and he'd take a nap. Now he refuses to nap in his crib or rnp. He starts crying immediately. I wait it out a few mins, but to no avail. He is definitely tired. The only places he'll sleep are in his car seat or swing. I do not want this to become a habit.

If anyone has any advice I'd appreciate it. In 5 weeks, he'll be in daycare so he'll need to be able to nap in a crib.

FYI: he has no problem sleeping in his crib from 9-8 overnight.

The only advice I have is to keep trying! He's probably more alert now than he was, so it's harder for him to fall asleep.

Do you have a routine for naps? For DS we turn on the soother, his camera, shut the shades, and sing a song. He didn't start going down for naps in his crib (putting him down awake) until he was about 7 months old though. We did it after CIO worked when he went to sleep at night. 3 months is too young for CIO, but maybe he'll just get used to being in his crib and falling asleep.

Does he have a soother? We have one that lights up, the sea creatures move, and it plays sounds like ocean waves. It might distract your son and keep him entertained until he drifts himself to sleep. Good luck!

At 3 months, let him nap wherever he will. DS was still napping in the swing at 3 months, even though he slept in his crib at night. He eventually transitioned to napping in the crib when he learned to roll onto his tummy and realized that was his favorite sleeping position.

I wouldn't worry. If your son wants to nap in the swing, I'd let him nap in the swing. Daycare will get him to nap in a crib, don't worry.

This is what I figured ??. We are at a friend'a house for the weekend so the swing is not an option and I was desperate.

I agree. DD is 7 months and she's still napping in her swing. I actually prefer she nap in the swing or on her playmat so she knows the crib is for long/nighttime stretches of sleep. I put her in the crib every now and then for a nap, but not often.
