Napping question re; my 9 week old
I am trying to teach her that mommy cant always hold her when she naps. I am trying to ebstablish naps around 9 and around 2 (depending on her bottle schedule) but this girl does not sleep!! Once she starts to fall alseep in my arms, I lay her down, she wakes up, then just lays there , awake for up to an hour! I put her down at 9:30 and she is still awake. Just now she is starting to cry, but barely, but I dont think I am ready to CIO so I will go in there , give her her paci and leave.
I sing that song to her "My girl wants to party all the time!" bc she does. She never wants to nap. At night she is great though.
Any tips? I feel bad leaving her there wide awake for over an hour. Then I think she isnt tired, but she fell asleep when I put her in for like 5 min
eta - she finally JUST fell asleep after laying there for an hour, awake. I knew she was tired!

Re: Napping question re; my 9 week old
My DD is 10 wks old and she will take her nap after being up for 4 hrs or so . She takes one at 12 for a couple of hrs and then takes cat naps here and there the rest of the day

Maybe she isn't tired?
I wouldn't try to schedule anything yet, just go by her right now
ETA: She ISN'T tired if she is awake for an hour THEN falls asleep! Keep her up that hour and you may get a better nap!!

Re: Napping question re; my 9 week old
I have the same issue except DS is only 4 wks old, and as soon as I put him down he screams ( at first I thought he was having gas pains) but now for the past week or so, I realize it's because he doesn't want to be put down. My DH was up w/ him all night last night bc he likes to sleep on ppls chest. We can't do this every night, I don't know what to do either bc I can not let him cry he is too small for that.

Re: Napping question re; my 9 week old
My DS is 9 weeks and we are going on his schedule. He is pretty good to go to bed at night now (we had some day/night confusion a few weeks back)
At this age - I think he needs a lot of sleep. Plus - If he is awake too long, he can't fall asleep.

Re: Napping question re; my 9 week old
Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child says that within 1-2 hours of wake time, newborns 1-4 months need to take a nap. They say you should put them down when they are drowsy but not cranky, at that point it is too late and they are past the point of tired.
My DD can only stay awake 1 maybe 1 1/2 hours then she needs to go to sleep. Maybe that is why she is still up 2-3 times a night

i am reading that also and I do go by that. I look for the drowsy signs and make sure she is not up for more than 2 hours. It is actually correct too, she always falls asleep within 2 hours of being up, she just doesnt stay asleep

exactly ive been doing the feed/play/sleep routine maybe not always in that order but i do the routine and when i see a tired sign" ex: yawning, fluttering of the eyes....i wrap her in her swaddle me and i put her down....it was so bad bc she was only falling in my arms and than screaming bloody murder wheni put her down but she was also in A LOT of pain from the gas and acid reflux issues....now when i put her down she whines more than cries and if she is overtired than its a whollllllle other story and it can take about an hour to get her to sleep....but the feed/play/sleep routine says that it can take that long to get them to go to sleep/nap
