I wasn't there for long, only 1.5 days, but you HAVE to go to Sterling. They have a fabulous tour and amazing wine.
We also went to Beringer, which was okay, but they were very friendly there and we had a good time. Franciscan was fantastic, great wines and a cool winery.
Check out this site: Napa Valley Wineries - you can view the wineries by region. We stuck with Napa, Calistoga and St. Helena.
You can also drive on Rt 29/St. Helena Hwy and stop at whichever ones look good to you!
We stayed at Mountview which I wouldn't really recommend, it was a cute town and the hotel was nice, but small and overpriced.

Re: Napa
definitely try to squeeze in a class at joseph phelps winery. we took a blending class which was fun and informative, and also including tastes of their premium insignia wines which sell $100+ a bottle
also, be sure to grab lunch at Auberge Du Soleil. they have a balcony that overlooks the vineyards and is very pretty/romantic

Luch at Auberge Du Soleil is AMAZING. I highly recommend.
I also recommend a Napa Balloon Ride, definitely worth getting up super early.
Also Chateur Montelena--the movie Bottle Shcok was based on this place. Love it--a little out of the way of other wineries but worth it.
I also recommend both Frogs Leap, Stags Leap and Cakebread Cellars. Make reservations where you can--you'll definitely need them at Cakebread.
If you want a super luxurious winery as well, try Opus One. Tasting for one glass is $35 or $30 but its basically the best glass of wine you can get and if you purchased a bottle in a restaurant it would be a few hundred dollars. Worth the glass and view from the rooftop!

Re: Napa
We went to Sonoma (the county next to Napa) and had a fabulous time. PLUS - Sonoma is cheaper is less touristy. We did a wine tour with a private company. It was very reasonably priced and we had individual attention from the winery owners the entire time. I would also recommend stopping by San Francisco for a bit - I love that city!
