Nap help! UPDATED AT BOTTOM

DD 3 is only 2 months old so I am not expecting any sort of nap schedule
However, I know she should be napping multiple times throughout the day
She does not !!!!!!!!
She is in general a difficult baby - vomits throughout the day and cries A LOT !!!!!
But I think she's just also exhausted which adds to the crying
I hold her , rock her , pat her on the back , use a pacifier, swing , car seat etc .....
She screams for a good 45 minutes ( some times much more ) and then falls a sleep at the most 20 minutes
Then we start all over again !!!
It's exhausting and I feel all I do is feed her and battle trying to get her to sleep while she screams her adorable little head off Chat Icon Chat Icon
Any advice ??????
Dd1 was difficult to get to nap but once out we would get a great nap length out of her
Dd2 was a dream
I just don't know what I should be doing for her
Thx !!!!

Nap help!

My guess is there is a milk allergy or reflux....If she is vomiting all the time. My DS had colic and was crying all the time and sleep was what felt like next to never but he never had any issues with gas, spit up or vomit. I would be looking into causes.

She definitely has some sort of reflux but they are saying it's not that bad cause she's eating - breast feeding - and gaining weight
I have another doctors appointment tomorrow so I'm bringing up the reflux issue again with the doctor
I have no problem switching to formula or soy if it will help her
She sleeps great at night 9 -11 hour chunks so this is what is throwing me off

Re: Nap help!

This sounds a lot like my dd1, who had a severe milk protein allergy and needed rx formula. She never slept more than 20 minutes and cried the rest of the time.

Did your pediatrician test for the allergy in their office or did you have to see a specialist ?

Re: Nap help!

Sounds like my son. He had reflux and was colic

He barely slept and cried all day and night

Reflux meds helped a little. Colic calm Baby yoga. Upright position. Burp after every oz Gas drops before and after every bottle

We tried a bunch of formulas and finally found a good mix. We ended up using half and half of two diff formulas

Hang in there

Our DS was eating and gaining weight as well. He threw up ALL DAY, EVERY DAY!!! I just had the ped watching him but looking back, I should've brought him to a gastro and had them monitor him. It DEF sounds like reflux. Medicine helped him but not as much as I would've liked. He DID NOT NAP and if he did it was for about 15-20 minutes and that's it. We burped after every ounce and kept him on an incline all the time. Please speak to your doctor and if you think nothing it helping, bring to a gastro. I wish I did!

My son had silent reflux. He ate. He gained weight. Didn't mean he didn't cry lol

Re: Nap help!

Thank you for all your replies
DD had her appointment yesterday - she lost weight ??
The doctor thinks it's a combo of me not producing enough milk for her and reflux
So right now I am still breast feeding but supplementing with formula after each feeding - which she seems to be taking in an additional ounce or two after each feeding !
We also started Zantac
I go tomorrow for a weight check
I feel horrible that she is going through all of this and the fact that I was starving her and had no clue
No wonder she was so miserable all the time ??
