Names
For those who are not finding out what you are having, do you have names definitely picked out. We are not finding out what we are having, and I feel like I can't pick a name without seeing the baby....... does anyone else feel this way? If you do have a name picked out, at what point of the pregnancy did you actually pick it? Just curious.........

Re: Names
Though I can't speak for myself... but my girlfriend is waiting until she meets the baby before naming him/her. She isn't planning on picking names either since her and her DH can't decide.

Re: Names
Before we found out, we had the girls name picked out. We had trouble finding a boys name that we both loved. Then we found out we were having a girl so that ended that. I do feel like sometimes you can see the baby and want to change your mind.

Re: Names
The exact same thing happened to us. We are having a girl, so it ended up being a non-issue.

Re: Names
With my son, we did find out what we were having, but we had a couple of names picked out ahead of time and decided on one after we saw him. Then it took us 4 days to come up with a spelling!

Re: Names
For our first, we didn't know what we were having, and that made it hard because we had to have a boy and a girl name! I went into labor and we still didn't decide but once they said it was a boy, the name just sort of came out and that was that!

Re: Names
We already know that if it's a boy, he will be named after DH. We are trying to narrow down the girls names to two or three then we will decide when we see her.

Re: Names
we don't know if its a boy or a girl, but we're not finalized on names for either yet. I think we have a girls first name, boys are more up in the air. I'd like to have them decided by the time the baby comes, but if it just doesn't fit when we see him/her we'll have to reconsider...

We didn't know if we were having a boy or girl so we had one of each name picked out.

Re: Names
we decided on names after about five months and I really love the names. But who knows, maybe we'll see the baby and think differently.

Re: Names
I do know the gender with this baby and have his name picked but with my other 2, we didnt know the gender. Ironically, with my son, we never finalized the girl's name and ended up having a boy, whose name we had picked out for months. And with my daughter, I went to the hospital with her name as a solid choice and 2 different boys names that we were still deciding between - ended up with a girl.
ETA: The question you ask though about needing to see the baby to pick the name, that can certainly apply even if you do know the gender. I never felt like I needed to see the face to choose the name but I do know many people who feel like that. My one friend went with a solid choice and after he was born, they felt like the name didnt fit him at all.

Re: Names
We had a bunch of girls/boys names in mind. It wasn't till recently that we narrowed it down to our favorite Boy/Girl name. If for some reason we don't feel the name fits the baby, we have backups.

Re: Names
We had a girl and boy name picked out ahead of time. It's funny, we had such an easy time with the girl's name, it took us almost until the end to agree on a boy's name. We ended up having a girl.
This time around we are planning on using the same name if it's a boy, and having the hardest time picking a girl's name. Wonder if it'll be a boy.
