I got married in May.. I am absolutely not touching my license. I can only assume that would be a major pain in the u know what.

Re: name change on teaching license

It's actually not bad....there is a form online on the teach website...you have to mail the form, a fee and a copy of your marriage certificate to them and they'll issue a new one...it may take up to 12 weeks though.

Re: name change on teaching license

That's good to know. I was going to keep mine in my maiden name, but now I may consider changing it because it sounds pretty easy. Thanks for this info.

Re: name change on teaching license

I am just leaving it. I have tenure at my job, so no need to pay to have my name changed on a piece of paper no one will proabably ever look at again...I hope

Yeah, I did that too. Only a few months later I got all of my paperwork returned to me in the mail, everything EXCEPT my $25 money order (how nice). They said they can't process my name change b/c I failed to submit a form that I did submit. It is the most frustrating thing in the world. After trying to call the hotline and being hung up on repeatedly, I have officially given up. It has been such a royal pain in the you-know-what for me

Wow, it's unbelieveable that they are doing this to you as well, and I'm sure many others. You can't even get anyone on the phone to discuss it! And I'm still really angry that they kept my 25 dollars. Chat Icon

Did you send in the name change form along with the forms for permanent cert? Were you required to pay the name change fee in addition to the $100 fee? I have to apply for my permanent soon.

Re: name change on teaching license

I had to mail in my original certificate (it said that on the form), I had just received my permanent. They took 6 months!!! And when I did finally get it, it said "duplicate" on it. What a PITA!!! I mean, it's not a duplicate if you have my original!!
