Nail salons, Manicures, Silk wraps, etc

Hi,

I only started testing postive last weekend and due to my early miscarriage a few months ago, I am just trying to not get excited, as it is early. I have been getting my nails done for six years now, I believe it is silk wraps I get. I am a terrible nail biter so this is almost like a necessity in my life. What is dangerous? I read different things. Am I better off getting the wraps off and trying to keep up with them with manicures? Is it bad to get them done at all? I am due to go there next week and not sure what to do. I was thinking of getting them done one more time. Thank you...

I have heard and read different things. A doctor at my practice told me that no research has been completed yet that says the chemicals are safe or unsafe and that unless it was necessary, why risk it.

Nail polish remover is a solvent which I ***think*** was on a "no" list, like paint thinners, oven cleaners etc.

I haven't gottten my nails done yet, but I am sure I will before I give birth. I never get color on my nails but that is because I chip them as I leave the salon.

All of these mixed reviews can drive a person crazy. There will be people who say they got their nails done their entire pregnancy and their children are healthy. So I guess it is a personal decision.

I, personally, am staying away. I figure the smell alone is so strong in the salons that it's not worth it - either in regards to making me sick and/or hurting the baby.
I can do my own nails or not do anything for a few months and survive...so I'm passing on manicures/pedicures for now.

I stopped getting my nails done once I got the BFP....figured it doesn't smell pretty and there is no need to risk anything.

I stopped getting my nails done for a while, and when I finally remembered to speak with my doc about them, he said that mani's and pedi's were fine, but he doesn't suggest getting wraps done.... Too many chemicals possibly entering the skin.
