Nail polish during ER

I keep forgetting to ask my RE about this. I think I wasn't able to wear nail polish at my last ER a few years back. Am I making this up? lol lol

depends on who you see. it wasnt a problem for me (i think i only had it on my toes)

I read somewhere online you shouldn't, but both times I had my fingernails and toe nails polished and no one said anything.

The only thing I can think of as to why you wouldn't be able to is because you will be anesthetized. During that they closely monitor your heartbeat and oxygen saturation to make sure you are getting enough and your heart rate does not go too slow. They do this by using a finger probe (like a closepin on yourfinger except it's padded and doesn't hurt). The probe hooks up to a pulse oxygen machine which monitors you and sometimes when a patient is wearing nail polish it effects how the machine can pick up these things.

Keep your polish on if they need to they have little pads (that look like alcohol wipes) with nailpolish remover on them and if they really need to they would remove it on one finger (usually your pointer).No Worries!!! Relax and Good Luck

I wasn't allowed nail polish or jewelry for my ER.
