I booked Howard Johnson's in Mystic for a weekend in July (bec it's cheap and has a pool) for me and my 2 daughters. I need to know if 2 nights is too much for me to spend there with them. I would take off work on Friday, take our time leaving Friday morning, but not too late. Get there before check-in and do what I'm not sure....
We'd leave Sunday morning. I want it to be a relaxing weekend, so not to have to rush everywhere (as we do most of our lives) that is why I chose 2 nights, although many say 1 night is enough.
Plus, I am single mom so no other adults will be there with me, my girls are 6.5 and 9. I did Sesame Place with them last year alone and that was interesting! The biggest issue there was that we had to skip some rides that my older one wanted to go on.
I'm unsure what the beach is like, the aquarium and anything else there is to do. For the beach, do I have to pack a lot of stuff like any other beach? Park far away?

Re: Mystic, CT
We did three days in Mystic - two nights - and it was fine, in fact, there were some things we had to skip. Then again, we were not with children. For us, it was: wineries, the casino, aquarium, shopping, antique stores, etc. Since you have kids - the aquarium, shopping in the shops next to the aquarium, checking out how they hand blow glass is awesome, also taking a tour of a maple sugar factory - where they make it and all is cool, and I really liked walking around the town of Mystic, too.
Definitely, if you can, eat at S&P Oyster Co. - it was EXCELLENT!

The aquarium offers 3 days for the price of 1 I believe. So you could go Friday night and again Saturday. The Seaport is interesting as well. We didn't do the beach, as I don't think there is a nice one that is public accessible there. Although I could be wrong.
