MY.HOUSE.IS.A.MESS
I didnt get anything done last week after DS's surgery. He didnt want me to leave his side. He was up and down all night crying so I was exhausted.
I have laundry piled up. DS's birthday gifts are still sitting in my living room. My dining room table is covered because apparently people just throw everything on it.
I dont know where to start or how to get everything done with 2 kids, one is a 7 mo. old that doesnt like to nap.
ETA: I just needed to vent

Re: MY.HOUSE.IS.A.MESS
I have none of that and my house is a mess
It is sad when your almost three year old tells you "Mommy, we can't have a party here this weekend, it is a MESS"

It's ok. There are no rewards in life for a clean home other than self-satisfaction.
You were there for your child when you were needed, this is more important than clean laundry!!!!!

First walk around with a garbage bag and throw out anything not important. Then start in the most important room, or the one that is driving you crazy the most. I hate when the house gets out of control!

This is what I would do too after you collect all your laundry , put them in black garbage bags and bring them to get washed and folded at a laundry mate. My single guy friend does this and by him in Commack he pays $.75 a pound I think. I just did this because we have no washer machine and I couldn't go to anyones house to do it that week and it was the best $60 I spent (by me it is a $1 a pound). Save yourself all that unnecessary stress.

Re: MY.HOUSE.IS.A.MESS
I am a list maker. Usually once I break down everything I need to do in each room. I start with one room and a big garbage bag. Throw in a load of laundry before everything and get started. Marking things off the list makes you feel like you can get lots done. Have your older DS hold the bag and walk behind you. I involve DS in the fun. I take the dust pan wash it and let him walk around with it putting toys in it that have to go in the toy bin. Just take a deep breath and take it one room at a time.

Re: MY.HOUSE.IS.A.MESS
Oh I feel for you. I was in the hospital last month. I have a 2 1/2 year old and a 6 month old. When I was put on best rest with DS 3 years ago now, I got a cleaning woman. We still have her. She comes every 3 weeks. It is the best investment.
DD (6 months) does not nap well either. She will only nap in the car (sometimes) or when being held. What I do is put DD in the bouncer or exersaucer next to me in the dining room. I talk to her as I am sorting papers or picking a spot to clean. DS will sometimes "help" me with the dusting or will play with his toys. It is so hard. It must be that much harder with a DC recovering from surgery. I just wanted to offer you you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Re: MY.HOUSE.IS.A.MESS
funny I was just talking with my husband this morning about the disaster area which we call home. It's driving us both crazy right now but with out work schedules we won't be able to attack it until Sunday!
oh and to make you feel better we have no kids which really leaves us no excuses!
