My update

So after our 15th failed month, and 5th failed IUI (with Clomid), we had another consult with the RE last night.

Since our insurance doesn't cover IVF, we have to continue being as aggressive as we can with IUI's.

They've decided to switch me to doing injectible hormones instead of the Clomid, so i'll be injecting myself with a low dosage of Gonal F for the next 3 days then going in to see how i've responded and continuing for as many days as they decide after that until the IUI.
Since i usually have at least 2 nice mature eggs each time i ovulate, they didn't want to start me with a high dosage and risk having too many eggs in there at once.
I'm also going in for a water sono next week to see if there are any hidden polyps that may be preventing fertilization/implantation.
They're also going to give me progesterone suppositories for after the IUI (although my levels have been ok in the past)

While i'm not banking all my hopes on this, it's at least encouraging that we're trying something new.
Fingers crossed this month!

Best of luck to you !!

By any chance are they still doing the grant ? Maybe you could get assistance w/ IVF if you qualify ....

When I did my IVF cycle, the grant was on hold, but my RE gave me my cycle at a crazy discount because of that and that we were OOP !

They said the grant is still on hold but they expect it to be reinstated in the next month or so hopefully
I did get the name of the financial coordinator at the dr's office to speak to about it. i figure it can't hurt to at least apply (although i think it won't cover much as we're near the salary limit it covers)

There have also been some trial studies in the past ( certain meds and RX companies ) that offer significant discounts if you used their drugs...This would alleviate any OOP expenses as far as meds...

It also doesn't hurt to ask the RE themself if their are any discounts for patients that pay OOP ( I payed nearly half Chat Icon )

Re: My update

Is your re a part of the group that is included with the NY state grants for ivf? I am in the process of getting my grant for the second and last time.. If you want, fm for more info.. if not, then you might want to change your re so that you can participate. I have no ins for inv and i think my co-pay this time is 3k... they have a sliding scale.

best of luck.

Re: My update

Its a good thing that they will be doing the water sono; I had this done and they found something that resembled a polyp, had a hysteroscopy which revealed a lot of scar tissue, not a polyp. That was definitely making difficult for implantation.
I agree with the PP's, maybe look into the New Hope Fertility for their IVF trial and/or ask if your RE might be willing to give you a sliding scale fee for the procedure. I had to pay OOP for IVF , so I understand how costly and frustrating this can be.
