My super sweet 16 (Not celebrity related - please don't move)
Is anyone else absolutely disgusted by this show ? I was just watching an episode and the sense of entitlement these young girls have, the money spent on the party and how spoiled they act has me If this is the future of our country, we are in sad shape. God help the next generation if they are all this shallow.

Yes. I am disgusted by most, if not all, of the shows on MTV and when I have children I hope to be able to prevent them from watching (at least in my home) until they are 18.

Sadly though it's the parents that give them that sense of entitlement...
ETA: Think about the "mean girls" back in high school. They are all have kids of their own now....and it may be cliche but the apple doesnt fall far from the tree...

Exactly, it starts with the parents. Although we are well off, DS will not grow up thinking he will just get what ever he wants, he must earn it, like doing chores, or gettign a PT job.
I firmly beleive when you don't have to work for something you never really appreciate it.

Yes, I hate this show. BUT I blame the parents. They created these monsters. And they will create monsters...Its a messed up cycle. No one has any sense of value or desire to EARN something.

I do know what your talking about and in a lot of cases I totally agree.
I remember seeing one episode with this indian girl who had a much older father and she would do this whiney voice thing and go "DADDDYYY" whenever she wanted something..
I loved mocking her and doing that voice..
But then on the other hand.. there was this one girl who when I saw her episode, seemed like such a spoiled brat..
Then one day I was at the tanning salon with a friend of mine and I could have sworn the girl working there was HER... so we were waiting on line and I turned to my friend and whispered that I though it was her.. and she knew exactly what we were thinking and said something to us
She was not how I thought she would be from watching the show, so sweet, wasn't wearing a lot of makeup, had a kind of crappy job at the tanning salon.
She said they totally play it up and made her act like that, she's embarrased now when people ask her about it, she was actually blushing.
