How far along are you? I remember being in the shower and washing my stomach and being like WOW this is what rock hard abs must feel like

Definitely completely normal. It could be the baby's back that's surrounding your belly button. My lil critter moves around a lot, so sometimes I feel the hardness, sometimes it feels gushy-like... .
ETA: I'm also 34 weeks along.
