My Salt Issues - please help
So my feet have had a lot of swelling , some nights it goes all the way up to my knees. The Dr stressed to watch my salt intake.
Now - there are obvious things to stay away from, fast food, Mexican, Chinese , pizza, etc. But I feel there is salt in everything. I planned on going to monday night pasta night at Mama's in Copaigue next week - do you think ravioli has a lot of salt in it?
How am i supposed to know what has how much salt

I would try to eat more simple foods-- lots of fruit and veggies. Read up on labels and check out the sodium content of foods.
As for pasta, I would stick with plain pasta with red sauce.

Re: My Salt Issues - please help
even some cereals have alot of sodium...you have to read labels. Also the heat will make your swelling worse regardless of the amount of salt you eat.

I am not sure exactly, but on nutrtional labels, it shows the % the sodium content is, based on what you should be having for the day. So, if one item of food, has a high percentage-- you should avoid it.
I like to read labels-- and use these web sites a lot to check out info: calorieking.com calorie-count.com

cook more at home! and avoid pre-packaged foods... then you can totally control your salt level.
I had greek take-out last night and I'm sooo thirsty today, likely becuase of the salt......

You can go, just make sure you drink lots of water, and eat your fruit and veggies.
Maybe get a 1/2 order instead and have a salad on the side w/ oil & lemon juice.

Watch out for pasta sauces they are full of salt!! The fillings are also full of salt, it a PITA when you have to watch your salt intake, I had to for my 2nd pregnancy, I also bought a BP kit so I could take my BP at home an monitor it.
