My really embarassing taking pics with Santa experience

My DH and I took our 16 month old DD to The Source mall in order to do some shopping, take a ride on the carousel and take pics with Santa. We waited until the Santa line was gone so we wouldn't have to wait and were able to get to take the pics quickly.

I should mention that my DD has stranger anxiety in that she is fine waving to strangers but will freak if they try to carry her or touch her. Knowing this, I told my DH that if she freaked out on Santa's lap then we would make this an impromptu family photo and both myself and my DH would be in the pic with DD. Well I go to put DD on Santa's lap and slowly back away and she starts screaming and crying for me. At this point the non-existent line was packed and everyone starts laughing at us. Chat Icon I go back to grab her and ask the photographer if we could just make it a family photo to which she says "of course", so off I go carrying my DD, fully expecting my DH to follow me over to Santa.

Once I get to Santa I see my DH standing with the photog laughing his butt off and shaking his head that he isn't going to be in the picture. I am so flustered at this point, sweating my butt off with my coat and almost 6 months pregnant with major swelling that I can't even argue with him because I know people are waiting. Santa then proceeds to insist I sit on his lap and not to worry, he can take the weightChat Icon I got even more flustered and proceeded to hold my 25 pound DD to where she is practically sitting on my stomach and I do a side saddle squat to avoid sitting on Santa's lap as he keeps insisted to put my weight on his leg. Chat Icon Anyway, I am super embarassed because I can hear people on line laughing at us, so I just want this experience to end as my legs shake like crazy from carrying my toddler while pregnant and trying to pop a squat, ALL while trying to smile at the camera.

Anyway, no one will ever see this picture because I look so ridiculous and my DD looks insanely bored. Can't wait till next year when I have a 2.5 year old and an 8 month old to take to see Santa Chat Icon

Chat Icon Chat Icon People were probably laughing at that Santa. He is huge, I don't know how anyone including a baby can fit on his lap.

I'm so sorry - I'm sure people weren't really laughing AT you, just the situation... but I would be upset too if it happened to me... Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
