my Re-introduction and a question
hi ladies. i haven't posted much on this board since we did our last IUI cycle last fall. i check in everyday and still post randomly but i wanted to officially say hello.
my short story is we've been TTC since 2009 for baby #1. we've had 3 losses and one of them was ectopic which resulted in a surgery that removed my right tube. we did 4 injectable IUI cycles last year and none of them worked so we knew our next step would be IVF.
we took the fall and this spring off and now we are gearing up to start IVF when i get AF in june (ER and ET will most likely be end of july). i'm super nervous because this is our one chance financially so i feel like A LOT is on the line.
now for the question.......i told somebody today that we are doing IVF and she responded "oh, that's great! are you excited!?!" and i felt terrible because i'm not really "excited". is this normal? i will feel excited when i'm pregnant and even more excited when i make it into my 2nd trimester and super excited when i hold our LO in my arms, but i'm not really excited now.
for those that have done IVF....were you "excited" going into it?
looking forward to chatting with you all!

Re: my Re-introduction and a question
My first time doing IVF, I was excited before it started... although what I thought was weird was I was NOT excited to be pregnant. I just couldn't allow myself to be excited or to take that pregnancy seriously. I knew how precious.. or should I say.. fragile.. a pregnancy is that I was way too nervous to allow myself to be excited about any of it.
I think everyone experiences their own cocktail of emotions when it comes to infertility. It's TOTALLY normal to not be excited about it.
People ask if I'm excited about surrogacy. Ummm I'm excited for the opportunity, but TERRIFIED of it not working. ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIED...
I think going into IVF not totally excited is being realistic. It's not a guarantee, you just have to hope for the very best and cross your fingers that your first IVF is your last!!

Re: my Re-introduction and a question
I went through all sorts of emotions while waiting to do it and then the night I began I was so excited. So you might find as you get closer it gets easier to get into it. I would say it is normal to feel excited, but probably just as normal not to. Though IVF makes many dreams come true, I don't think this is how anyone dreamed of having a baby in the first place.

Re: my Re-introduction and a question
i will not lie i was excited..but i think it was bc we did so many iui then i got sidelined with a blood clot i just wanted to do something to ttc..if that makes sense
as for overall being excited to do ivf? no i wanted to make a baby the old fashioned way but that was neveer going to happen
whether you are excited, scared, mad, happy, nervous or whatever i think it is ok..there is no right emotions
it is just sad that any of us ever have to feel that
best of luck to you

Re: my Re-introduction and a question
I was a mix of excited, scared and flabbergasted... Excitement more for the possibilities than the fact that i was actually doing IVF. Scared of the unknown and flabbergasted that i even have to do this...

Re: my Re-introduction and a question
I start my first IVF cycle in about 3 weeks... I am not excited at all... I am scared crap about it. Scared about the injections but mostly of the disappointment cause I know the odds are against me. It's all so new to me, I am also still so sad that this is what we have to do.... so definitely not excited.
Then again... we didn't do IUI's or anything cause there was not point for me.

Re: my Re-introduction and a question
I was excited because there are such high success rates. You have a plan in place - I say be excited!!!
