My poor "chubba"
He was put on a water bottle diet He's 17 pounds 4 ounces and 25 1/2 inches long at almost 16 weeks...off the charts for both categories. My ped said he needs to lay off the calories. I don't feel like he eats *that* much.

My nephew was about 16 1/2 lbs at 4 months and he is fine now! How can you not give milk bottles (formula/bm) they need it for proper brain growth at that very young age!!

Re: My poor "chubba"
Honestly I would ask for a second opinion. I would not feel comfortable only giving my child water. I mean think about it. If you're hungry and drink water does that take your hunger away?

Re: My poor "chubba"
He suggested two bottles of some pear juice (for ds's constipation) and mostly water. The rest of his bottles will be formula...Sorry I didn't mean ALL of his bottles

Re: My poor "chubba"
Julia was off the charts in her weight also the first couple of months, and my doctor also said to give her water, but she didn't like drinking just water, so I stopped giving it to her. She went through a growth spurt and it ended up balancing out. Dont worry!

Re: My poor "chubba"
What did he weight at birth?
I had to go look up Nate's stats and he was 18lbs & 26 inches at 4 months (he was 10lbs 3oz at birth). When I expressed concern about his weight being off the charts, he wasn't worried and said it would level off when he starts walking. Now at 10 months he isn't putting on the weight as fast bc he's more active. He was 23lbs and 30 inches at his visit a few weeks ago.

Re: My poor "chubba"
I truely believe that every baby develops differently and my daughter is always in the 95% for height and weight which concerns me since I am overweight but the doctors always tell me that when she starts crawling and walking she'll probably level out a bit.
If it bothers you with what the dr. said I would definately seek a seperate opinion but if you are comfortable with it then follow the dr's orders. It really depends on how you felt with what the doctor said.

Re: My poor "chubba"
He doesn't sound too big to me?? Then again I am not a doc. At my son's 16 week visit he was 27 inches 15.3 lbs. I honestly wouldn't be too worried.
How many ounces a day does he eat? My ped says he shouldn't really eat more than 30 ounces a day.
