my nassau property
I just checked and our school taxes are going up 680 next year  if this keeps up we will go bankrupt!!!!
ETS: school tax is 7538

My school taxes alone went up to $7009, we need to do something about the teachers union. They want to cut programs for these kids instead of making teachers pay into their pensions, they want to cut programs for kids instead of making teachers take a pay freeze.
COME ON this should be more about the kids than the teachers, the whole system needs to be revamped and that is why I will vote for Palladino in November, maybe he will get something done.
He's a little rough around the edges but maybe we need someone like him in office to tell the world what everyone else is thinking.

My school taxes went down a little bit. And the STAR went up a few hundred.
So I am saving a total of 300-400 this year.

Oh god, dare I look  They released the taxes for next year already?
Ugghhh...our taxes have gone up 1k every year we've been in the house 
ETA: HOLY CRAP....my school taxes went DOWN $712.84 (w/STAR...looks like they gave a bigger STAR exemption)
Seems little, but literally our taxes have gone UP $4k over the past 4 years. I am sooooo excited!  This means our general taxes probably went down a little as well.

I just checked ours
We had an increase of $1646
Its absurd!
I am telling you, if these increases keep happening, in the next 3-5 years we are going to be paying over 20k a year in taxes

how do you get to the actual dollar amount? I see assessed value, and a number that doesn't correlate to dollars. 1,157, it's 989 for next year. I grieved my taxes last year.
Help me with calcs. please?

You did a major addition/renovation last year, right? My neighbors did as well and it took a couple of years for them to adjust their taxes.

Are you checking mynassauproperty.com??? It should show the total with and without STAR.

Hmmm...that's strange. Maybe they didnt finish uploading everyone's info. Did you get a letter whether you won your tax appeal?

Just multiply the numbers and you pretty much get your taxes.

Yes, we were hit with a huge increase after renovations, which i get, but i still have the same 60x100 property.
pretty much we have gone from 7k in taxes to 18k in 2 years and now that they are raising it 1600-2000 a year, we will be in the 20k range very soon
