My lawn company just said...
that my landscapers are cutting my lawn too low and that is why we have weeds 
Does that make sense?

yes because the thicker your lawn is the less weeds you will have. cutting it too low cause ther lawn the thin out and therefore weeds to grow.
have the landscapers cut it higher for the next few weeks and see if that helps

Longer grass is also more draught-tollerant, so you won't have to water as much as you would with a shorter cut.
