My first week with Gavin
Well, we had our first trip to the ER and the experience was truly awful......
Let me preface by saying that Gavin is totally fine and perfect in every way. He just scared the crap out of his mommy....
He was making scary googly eyes while falling asleep and weird motions with his mouth. The 2nd time he did it I called the pediatrician and since I said he was lethargic, she sent us to LIJ.
We were there for over 20 hours and they tortured my poor little angel with a CAT scan, IV in his hand , catheter and threatened a spinal.
He also had a barium swallow to test for reflux and and EEG with 20 probes on his head......
All this to tell me he was fine in every way.
Schneiders did a horrendous job of caring for my sona dn I will hopefully never return. My cousin is a director at North Shore and she couldn't even help....
I didn't eat or sleep for almost 2 days, screamed at a neurologist (that felt good!) for their ridiculous mix up and making us wait all day for testing, and was totally drained for 2 days.
It was by far the most hellish experience of my life, and it was only day 5. We are home now, my kitchen is still a mess, nothing is going right with it, but my boy is well and that's all that matters.
That's my update for now.
Hope all of my fellow preggers are doing well, I miss you so.....

I am glad he is ok but I am sorry that you had to go through all that. I had a horrible experience with Schnieder's also when DS was 10 months old.

Re: My first week with Gavin
Oh no, I'm sorry to hear you had to go through this, but I am glad to hear Gavin is fine.
A nurse teaching a childcare class (at North Shore) told us they will often do a spinal if babies have a fever, and that terrified DH and I. Seems so unecessary!
Anyway, I'm sorry to hear you had such a terrible experience! Did anyone even explain why he needed all these tests?

The symptoms are similar to those of a seizure disorder......
