My Dh...

wants to move into a house walking distance from my parents.

I think its too close. They are not the type to just show up but it is weird to have them around the block.

Shouldn't it be the other way around?

We saw a house we really liked this weekend, but its proximity to my parents is causing me some concern.

Re: My Dh...

We have two cars.

I guess I should be happy he isn't pressuring me to live within walking distance of his parents.

YES!! It's much worse to be near the IL's! lol

If you love the house & neighborhood & your parents aren't intusive, I would go for it!

Re: My Dh...

IF your parents respect boundaries and you like them lol I would go for it, specially if you are planning to have kids it would be nice to be that close to the grandparents.

Re: My Dh...

My mother lives downstairs, lol. We have a two family with her. It's got it's moments, but for the most part, she's really great at respecting boundaries and privacy. And I figure when the time comes that we have kids, I have a live-in babysitter Chat Icon

We're going to go back and see the house again this weekend and then decide.

Re: My Dh...

we recently moved into a home close to my parents. Less than a half mile.

We love it. I never lived close to them b4 though since moving out. College was away, then lived outside of Philly, Hoboken, LI and now back to Central NJ.

I've become closer with them and they're a huge help with DS. We have dinner with them once a week and my father watches DS on Fridays (he's retired).

Can't complain... yet Chat Icon
Although we both do have our own lives as well, which helps and we see his fam once or twice a month

ETA - plus, you have to love the house. We knew the area we wanted to live, but the home we fell in love with was the one closest to my parent's
