My 3 month old wants to be nursed EVERY hour!!!
Ladies, please advise me on this one my DD is 3 months old and is exclusively Breastfed. She had been excellent at sleeping all thru the night until we arrived in overseas 5 days ago. It was a 11 hour flight over so I know jetlag can be an issue but since we got here she wants to be nursed EVERY hour!! she is not sleeping. She had just saw her Dr in the states last week and everything was fine. My question is why is she doing this? does she need formula? rice? I also have a 2 year old that I nursed and did not give her rice ceral until 6 months so I am very confused Confused and VERY tired!!! thank you

Re: My 3 month old wants to be nursed EVERY hour!!!
I'm thinking it could be 2 things-- either she's just looking for comfort and using you as a pacifier (does she use a regular pacifier?), OR she's having a growth spurt and this will last only a day or two.
I know it's hard, I have totally been there. It is exhausting and my boobs HURT...but most of the time it was a growth spurt that passed pretty quickly (DD never took a pacifier).

Me too! I'm sure she knows she's in a new place and that flight threw her off her schedule. DS is almost 3 1/2 months and his "schedule" shifts if we have a long busy day, out of the house. He also has growth spurt days too where we can feed quite often. My boobs are tingling as I type!
Try as much fresh air and sun as you can (not sunburn sun, just sunlight exposure) and pacify her into naps between feedings, after play/tummy time.
Hang in there!

Re: My 3 month old wants to be nursed EVERY hour!!!
Thanks Mommies She does not take a pacifier well, usally spits it out after a few minutes. As for a growth spurt I am not exactly sure what it is but it is day 5 now and STILL she wants to be nursed every hour and is refusing the crib, very very needy. I hope this passes quickly I am feeling very guilty becasue I also have a 2year old and this is cutting into my time with her. I am barely spending time with her now thanks again

ITA. It's common for babies to go through growth spurts at 3 months. I hope it passes soon.

just so you know - if it's a growth spurt, it could last longer than a day or two. DS had growth spurts that lasted for a week!
