My 1 year old hates milk. What do I do?
 She hates it. I've tried it cold in the sippy which is how I hoped to get rid of bottles. Nope. Then I tried warm in sippy. Nope. Warm in bottle. Nope. Mixed with formula-only if it's 1 oz milk to 6 oz formula. As soon as I put more milk in she knows and won't drink it. What should I do? We go to the dr in 2 weeks.

How long have you been trying? It took Madelyn a few weeks to drink more than a sip or two. I always gave her a sippy of (soy)milk with her meals. In the meantime, I wouldn't give her a bottle until after meals. Eventually she started drinking more.

I know this sounds bad, but we put a little chocolate or strawberry powder (quik or ovaltine) into her milk bottles for a while to get her onto the milk. It worked and eventually we put less and less in and she was on whole milk. This is what our ped told us to try.

Our doctor told us to do the same thing and it totally worked.

We just give him chocolate milk. Really, not much chocolate. And he drinks it/enjoys it no problem.
That just wasn't a battle I was willing to fight. And he was ready to be weaned from BFing, so we went with it.

i agree with the PPs - add a tiny bit of chocolate syrup to the milk. there is no harm in a tiny bit of chocolate

i was gonna say the same thing, i didnt have any problems switching to milk with dd but the other day she was screaming forever and i was drinking chocolate milk so i put some in the sippy for her and she shut right up

My DD won't drink it either. I tried EVERYTHING! I tired giving it to her in a bottle and just about every sippy cup out there. I even refused to give her any drinks other than milk to force to her drink it for a few days. I think I spent a good month trying to get her to drink it. We even tried vanilla, strawberry, chocolate, soy, rice, regular, etc. She hates it! I never drank it either. My ped isn't concerned as long as she's getting her calcium from other sources. She loves yogurt, yogurt drinks, cheese, etc. so she get's a good amount on a daily basis.
ETA my DS thinks its the best thing ever and drinks tons of milk.

My DD was the same way. She never drank milk. She's alive and well and almost 4 years old Milk is not a necessity.

i even tried a little vanilla extract, it works.

Mixing formula and milk worked for us. Did you try the 1oz milk/6oz formula for a few days in a row and then try 2oz formula/5 oz milk?

dr told me ovaltine.
I tried everything. quik, honey, 1/2 BM...ovaltine did the trick.
for every sippy cup, he gets 1/2 teaspoon

Me too...Did you just transition to milk?
Ours took awhile DS hated the taste at first but we did a very slow transition and he got used to it. Probably took 3 weeks (we also wanted to finish our formula supply) but by that 3rd week he was fine and had no issues with the milk. I didn't take away the bottle at that time, we did milk at 12 months bottles at 18 months.

Thanks everyone.
I've been gradually adding mor emilk to bottles of formula but once she notices she won't drink it. I'll keep trying for 2 more weeks until the dr appt and then I'll discuss adding chocolate with him. At this point, I don't care too much and would be ahppy to see her drink one cup of chocolate milk a day to get her calcium and Vit D. She does eat dairy foods no problem though so I'm not too worried. Thanks

A little chocolate milk worked for us too. DD wanted nothing to do with regular milk when I first tried.
So we started using those Horizon Chocolate or Vanilla milks and would mix about 1/4 or less of it in with her whole milk and that's how she's been drinking it ever since.
