 Mulch
Are there certain types of mulch that WON'T attrract termites?
I would like to add some mulch to our beds, but don't want to deal with an insect problem!

 Re: Mulch
our termite guy told us that they all attract termites. You may want to check with HD or Lowes...maybe they have some suggestions.

 Re: Mulch
I'm almost positive we have cedar mulch. Mike wanted it because it was better.

 Re: Mulch
A nursery will be able to help you. We went to Paul's Nursery (ENPT??) and they suggested cedar mulch but not the chips - the shavings. The bugs can hide/live under the larger chips but not the shavings.

I never thought about it either. Can you have it away from the house?

 Re: Mulch
I have been doing some reading and it seems that mulch doesnt attract termites BUT if you have termites....even just a few...not an infestation...it could give them a nice place to nest.
I'm assuming since out house had a termite problem years ago, that is why my exterminator told us to not use it.
Ricki...I think if you have it away from the house...its ok. All of our gardens at when we first moved in, were all against the house, again thats why we were advised against using mulch
