MTHFR- what does this mean?
I am reading the lab results of my bloodwork.
MTHFR A1298C- Positive
This patient is heterozygous for MTHFR A1298C
What does this mean in terms of getting and staying pregnant? Is there a way to treat it?

Re: MTHFR- what does this mean?
I have MTHFR and have to take a baby aspirin everyday during my pregnancy. It's a clotting disorder and I believe it contributed to miscarrying my first child, before I was diagnosed. I am now 30 weeks pregnant with my second DC.

Re: MTHFR- what does this mean?
I have A and C. I *think* having just A is the best one to have and really very common, I don't think it is supposed to interfere with TTC.
For the one copy of A and one copy of C that I have I take a baby aspirin and also metnax, a prescription high folic acid vitamin.
But please check into this I could be wrong.

Re: MTHFR- what does this mean?
heterzygous, is better than what I am (Homozygous- Mutation C).
So yes, it's treatable. I have the more severe form and was able to go on and have my DD. I have to take baby aspirin when I'm not pregnant/not nursing. During pregnancy, I was on Lovenox (a blood thinner that you inject) and Heparin at the end. I saw a blood doctor twice during my pregnancy.
You might not even need that though because you are heterozygous. Good luck!!
My sister has A and I think heterozygous and she doesn't have to take anything.
