MSG/Penn Station - why are the police in riot gear?
Just curious if anyone knows why there are tons of dogs and police in armor with rifles?
Is someone visiting today?

not sure, but they often are there. i've been through Penn and many days they're like that. either i was missing something, or i just thought it was somewhat standard procedure now. i think they still do random searches and the like.

I was thinking the same thing !?!? There are usually a few cops here & there but today was like a full-on swat team at the entrance of the E train, one guy with this huge german shepard barking at everyone too ! I was wondering if it were just a random thing or is there a reason ?

Just heard, it's likely a drill. Nothing to worry about. Police doing their jobs - and a d@mn fine one.

No idea, but the dogs were barking at everyone getting off the LIRR this am. Scared the he!! out of me.
I looked online but couldn't find anything about anyone coming - Or anything happening.

They sometimes do that periodically as a "show of force".
They do it at random times- it's like a drill and a show of force- acts like a deterrant.
I like seeing it- makes me feel safer!

Me too! They do it downtown frequently.
They did it the night I was going with my parents to see Jimmy Buffett at MSG and my mom was alarmed at first and kept looking at me like I was nuts when I told her it was a common occurence.

defnitely a drill,. this week lots of high profile areas are doing mock drills. iw ork at a high profile hospital and we heard that we will have a drill sometime this week we are not sue what the scenario will be we just all have our pagers ready and we are ready to gear up, it's so stressful, I can barely work
