MRI for 18 month old
Anyone have their child have an MRI at a young age where they have to put them out for the imaging? Did you have to go to the hospital?

yes, my DS had an MRI under general anesthesia at 5 months old. we did it at morgan stanley children's hospital in the city because everybody, including the anesthesiologists, only work in pediatrics so they are experts :) feel free to PM me!

Yes. DS was about 13 months old. We had it done at stony brook. Worst part was he could not eat before hand and they delayed us because they were debating doing it when looking at his past medical records. I had the new x ray and they took him immediately. As soon as he was done they brought us into recovery to be with him and allowed us as much time as needed. Stony brook only schedules kids/babies at certain times and they have all pediatric specialists during those times. We had been in the NICU there so they knew him from then. While he was in MRI there was a medical emergency and the emergency team was called to X ray. His nurse came to us and told us that it was for someone else and not our son just to help ease our mind.
He was sedated for another test at 18 months at LIJ. That was done at the hearing center, not directly in the hospital.

Yup MRI with sedation @ Stony Brook Hospital. Waiting before & during was hard & then waiting for anesthesia to ware off before taking IV out of her foot were the worst parts. Its a draining day for you & your child..but its not horrible. Hope everything is ok :).
