Moving babies out of your room????

Hopefully I'll get some good advice. Long story short. . .My boys will be 9 months on Friday. We have 2 cribs up in my bedroom and 1 in their nursery b/c my dh was not ready for them to be in their nursery. Their nursery is downstairs right at the bottom of the steps. He doesn't like that they would not be on the same floor as us. Our house only has a master suite upstairs and 2 bedrooms downstairs. The other bedroom downstairs is further from their room than our room. My boys still do NOT sleep through the night. It is horrible. I truly believe part of it is b/c they know we are there. They go to sleep fine but wake all night long looking to be soothed. It is hard to do CIO b/c they are in our room. we have tried. I am often home by myself at night b/c my DH works nights. He has finally agreed to move the other crib into the nursery as long as I can find a video monitor that can view both cribs. Right now we can only see one crib. I guess my question is, did anybody ever move their non sttn child into another room and their sleeping improved? Please please help with advice.

I honestly believe once they are in their own room I'll be able to do more ignoring of their crying instead of jumping every second. I love my boys so much but 9 months of broken sleep and never having more than 2hrs. of straight sleep is killing me and making me into a very unhappy person.

Well I moved DS into his room at 3 1/2 months so that I could get more sleep. He was so noisey at that point that I couldn't sleep. I hate to tell you, but at 8 1/2 months DS is still not STTN. It is a little easier to let them cry when they are not in the room, but you still will have to make middle of the night trips to soothe them.

i moved both of my DC out of my room very early-DD @ 6 wk and DS @ 3 wks. my DC are also on a different floor...that's just the way it is. we are on the 1st floor and they are upstairs. it's not ideal but it is what it is. i did it early b/c i COULD NOT sleep with them in the room. i was totally on edge listening for every little noise. call me cold
anyway, i found that everyone got a better night sleep being in their own space! i think that @ 9 months your DC are old enough to be in their own rooms and be sleep trained if you have to. they are old enough now to be taught to self soothe especially if you are tired and sleep deprived-9 months is a long time to keep waking up numerous times a night! it takes it's toll...that just my opinion. i'm sure you'll get more on here! good luck!

DS moved into his crib at 3 mos. DH was deployed and I gave no other option. It will be easier when they are in their own room. When we moved DS he STTN from then on. I don't want to give you false hope but I think it may help.
