movies and toddlers
How old was your child when you took them to their first movie?
Was it a disaster?

Re: movies and toddlers
LOL I was gonna say 8m and it was a breeze!! Took her to see Star Trek
But we took her to the movies again to see "how to train your dragon" while it wasn't a disaster it was a waste of money. She wanted to walk around, go outside and see the movie theatre, etc. Really only watched about 45min or less of the movie.
March of 2010 so she was about 1 & half.
I haven't since.
Going to let her watch "Happy Feet" on DVD soon and may take her to go see Happy Feet 2 later this year..

Re: movies and toddlers
we took Emma to see Cars 2 last night. (she is 2)
75% of the time she was an angel (watching the movie or doing patty cake with me, keeping quiet, etc.).
15% of the time she was okay - not being loud, disruptive, but walking around, etc.
10% of the time we were chasing her, she was crying, etc. This happened at the very END of the movie - so we understood. It was literally the last 10 minutes...
we went to a 'dine in' theater in our town. not one of the nice, AMC ones that are all fancy. this one is a local theater that they removed every other row of seats & put in tables that you can move around... there was LITERALLY one other family there last night - so we were fortunate in that respect.
emma was NOT disruptive at all - but this is the ONLY theater (other than the drive-in) that we will take her to.
eta: added emma's age.

Re: movies and toddlers
DS#2 was 2.5 and kept his hands over his ears the whole time and then fell asleep. Now at 4 he is great...a little antsy at times, but reasonable.
i can't remember how old #1 was

Took seamus to see Cars 2 last week
He will be 3 this month
He sat through all the previews and the movie. He did great! Gave him some M&Ms and some popcorn and his juice cup. He was in heaven the whole time

Re: movies and toddlers
There's a movie theater in Farmingdale that runs very toddler friendly movies one Sunday per month for only $3.50. The movie is usually only an hour long. I brought DS when he was 19 months and we saw a Thomas the train movie. He sat through the whole thing thanks to the snacks I brought him! I'll try to find a link to the theater.
Here's the link Click on Kid Toons for info. There's a movie coming up this weekend!
They also have a program called Baby Pictures and I used to go to that when DS was a little infant. It's for moms to enjoy but they set up changing tables, keep the lights up, and the sound low for their little ears. Those of you with little infants, check that out!

Re: movies and toddlers
Took jacen to see Kung Fu Panda at 3 years old. He did great and loved it.
We also did Cars2 and i think it was the movie because he asked to leave after an hour and a half. I don't think he understood what was going on.
